Visiting a foodbank session

If you can come to a Centre or Community Hub, you will be welcomed by volunteers who can discuss your needs and select your food parcel. You must pre-arrange your needs with your referrer and bring your reference information with you - also if possible please bring carrier bags for the food.

“The volunteers at the foodbank were so lovely, they listened to me and made me feel human again. It was the first place I didn’t feel judged.”

We know that crisis can strike anyone and we also understand how difficult it can be to think about needing to use the foodbank. That’s why our foodbank volunteers aim to welcome everyone who comes to the foodbank with compassion, kindness and a listening ear.

Meeting your needs

You will normally be provided with three days of emergency food. We want to make sure that we give you the right food to meet your needs, so please do let your referrer know if you have any special dietary requirements or allergies, for example, gluten free, halal or vegetarian.

Preparing your food

Your food parcel may have been be pre-packed into supermarket carrier bags or boxes, however many of our sessions now provide you with a choice of items form a shelf of food .

You will be able to get a parcel which meets your needs, but flexibility in contents may be less than normal.

Practical guidance and support

Foodbank volunteers will take the time  to listen and support you as much as they would like.

Please respect others who are waiting to collect food.
